About Hailey and Sam

We met at the University of Indianapolis where we both received our Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degrees. While in the occupational therapy (OT) program, we gravitated toward the aging adults population and earned our Masters in Gerontology as well. Since graduating in 2019, we have both spent our careers working with the geriatric population in the inpatient rehabilitation setting. During our OT practice, we noticed many of our patients set to overcome multiple hurdles in order to return to their home setting. One major hurtle being their home set up was not compatible to their functional performance level leading to the need for modifications. We began looking into how we could help as OT's and take our knowledge one step further in order to help our patients. This lead us to obtaining our Aging in Place Specialist certification (CAPS) through National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in June of 2023. We have created In Home Preferred, LLC to use CAPS and our OT background to create a safe and comfortable home environment for those who wish to Age in Place.
